This month is Anywhere Working Bike Month, woohoo!
Cycling can be quicker and cheaper than public transport, it cuts carbon emissions, and it’s great for health and well-being. For many of us, it’s also a handy commuter option, whether heading into the office or to that ideal remote working location. What’s not to love?
Well, according to a recent government report, 67% of people have little or no confidence when cycling on the roads.
As big fan of the bike, we want to help change that. Throughout Anywhere Working Bike Month we’ll be tailoring advice for bike newbies, bike maybes and seasoned road veterans alike, by looking at finance, security, cycle communities, and the culture of riding to work. Oh, and cycle chic.
The good news is, we’re in the midst of a bike boom. Cycling on the road has increased by 12% in the last 10 years and Transport for London is aiming to make that a 400% increase by 2026. We’re heartened too by the fact that some 27% of people, according to that government report, would be willing to cycle more often than they drive.
Why not give our new Foursquare calculator a try to see how much money and C02 you could save by jumping on a bike? And if cycling is part of your working week, or if you’re about to make the leap, we’d love to see your pictures and hear your story. Just drop us a line on Twitter.
