In the second in our coffee drinking series, we take a look at the best coffee hotspots in Scottish capital, Edinburgh. Edinburgh, so a flexible working birdy tells me, is the seventh most populated city in the UK, its name derives from Celtic British and has had settlers there since the Bronze Age.
But most importantly for this blog, it’s also a very good place to drink coffee.
Not every coffee shop in Edinburgh has Wi-Fi, so we’ve made a note if they don’t have it. So why not tackle and edit that report you’ve been putting off in one, away from the temptation of Internet access.
Stag Espresso, Dovecot
First up is Stag Espresso, Dovecot, which alongside fantastic coffee also has a delicious menu to accompany it. Previous examples of food include pastrami and highland brie, honey roast ham & smoked applewood with tomato, mixed leaves & stag chutney. So why not head on down, have a snack an catch up on some work away from the office or home.
Plus they’ve got a very trendy website which you can view here, and follow them on Twitter here.
Artisan Roast, Broughton Street (No Wi-Fi)
Artisan Roast now have coffeeshops all over the world, but Broughton Street was the first one. A wonderfully relaxed atmosphere, comfy sofas and unbelievable coffee make this a must. Artisan roast all of their own coffee, which seems to be the mark of the true coffee aficionados.
If you’re ever stuck deciding what coffee you want, then their coffee flow chart is available to help you in that decision.
Visit their website here, or follow them on Twitter here.
Wellington Coffee, St George Street (No Wi-Fi)
The Wellington is a tiny place that offers great coffee from two different grinders. The first is Anywhere Working favourite Square Mile, and the second a guest grinder that rotates between different beans at different times.
The Wellington are so into their coffee they don’t have a website or Twitter, but you can catch a little more information about them over at this blog.
Peter’s Yard, Quartermile
Last but not least, Peter’s Yard is an astounding coffee house and bakery. Peter’s Yard tries to emulate the old world of coffee houses, where gossip and debates flourish over cup after cup of coffee. This makes for a very inspirational place to sit down and get a bit of work done.
